The Politics of the "Common Core"


Maryland students are now nearly two weeks into the school year, and they're increasingly being taught under new national "Common Core" standards. Supporters say Common Core is an effort to create a clear understanding of what students need to learn. But critics say Common Core is a costly program that's being pushed on states with little public debate. We'll dig deeper into the debate with Republican state delegate Mike McDermott and with Jon Andes, the former superintendent of the Worcester County Public Schools.
